Where will Equinix be expanding next?

Equinix is the top in carrier neutral data centers and internet exchanges.  With Verizon’s move buying Terremark, the Telcos are looking to expand leveraging their networks.

While researching a project for a client I was looking at Cloud Computing data centers and found an Equinix presentation that gave a lot of details on future growth.  Besides Equinix there are cloud presentations from IBM, HP, Dell, EMC, VMware, Wipro, and Telco.  The presentations were downloaded from a public site with no password logon.

Here are some of the slides from the Equinix presentation that I found interesting.

50% lower carbon footprint with new Cell Tower

I've discussed the idea of container data centers along with cell towers.  Here is one excerpt that hints of a possibility with HP.

We’re not alone on this journey. We’re working closely with HP on cloud-like technologies and co-creating with Freescale on system-on-chip capabilities. And most importantly, we are co-creating this technology, together with our customers all around the world.

For more background, CNET News covers announcement by Alcatel Lucent on new cell towers.
