Part of what is covered are the three Telcos and four banks that are behind much of the DC growth.

In the telecommunication industry, three large state-owned telecommunication operators (China Telecom, China Mobile and China Unicom) and large IDC service providers are the major players driving data center constructions.

Among them, China Telecom has up to 375 IDC data centers, 320 of which are used to serve external customers; China Unicom has 196 IDC data centers with a total floor space of 184,000 sqm; and China Mobile has a number of data centers totaling 105,000 sqm.

IO announces splitting into 2 companies, is 2nd largest private DC company and will be #? after split

IO announced that it is going to split into two companies and it says it is the 2nd largest private data center company as they were not able to make the transition to a public company with an IPO.

Is Newark's Data Center LLC project a Green Data Center?

The Green Data Center aspect is being debated as many focus on the environmental impact.

Newark City Council reviews report on data center’s environmental impact

Newark Mayor Polly Sierer and City Council presented a report on the potential environmental impact of the proposed data center and its adjoining power plant on the University of Delaware’s STAR campus during a special meeting on Monday night.

The report, produced by Liberty Environmental, concludes The Data Centers’ project is relatively clean, but it’s use of combustion engines and non-renewable fossil fuels in a 279 megawatt, gas-turbine power plant does not make it green.

Biebuyck presented Liberty's findings to city council during a special meeting held Monday night in council chambers where he shared several “concerns” regarding TDC's air permit, deeming some of the company's claims “questionable,” “incorrect” and “misleading.”

 

“This project is to some extent clean but it's certainly not green,” he said.


 

DePaul shows their new data center space in Dupont Fabros Chicago Facility

CH1 - Chicago, IL

Located in the western suburbs of Chicago, CH1 is one of the Midwest’s most sophisticated and efficient data centers. The facility is constructed in two phases of 18.2 MW of Critical Load each; Phase I was delivered in August 2008, with Phase 2 delivered in February 2011. Clients are able to lease one or multiple dedicated computer rooms each with independent redundancy and security. The property has multiple major fiber carriers on site and benefits from some of the country’s most competitive power rates. Customer requiring substantial office space can utilize the adjacent and exclusive 32,000 square foot office building. The facility is currently 100 percent leased.
